Mrs. Met is more than a mascot; she is a trailblazer, a style icon, and a lasting symbol of Mets fandom. First introduced as “Lady Met” in 1965, she represented female Mets fans and became the face of the Lady Met Club, a non-profit community organization for female fans organized by the New York Mets front office from 1965-1997. When she made her official in-person debut at Shea Stadium on Opening Day, April 8, 1975, Mrs. Met brought something sports had not really seen before: a female mascot with her own identity, her own following, and her own unmistakable Amazin’ presence.
Today, Mrs. Met continues to represent women in sports, female fandom, New York City, and the New York Mets with charm, confidence, and serious game-day energy. She is a girls’ girl in the best sense — glamorous, fun, welcoming, and fully part of the action.
