Although not exactly known, the college believes that the Red Dragon mascot was adopted in the late 1940’s as the official mascot. There are only two Red Dragons in the entire country and they both compete in the same conference. SUNY Cortland is the other Red Dragons. In the spring of 2021, Red won the annual SUNY Mascot Madness contest for the top mascot in the SUNY.
