Team: University of West Georgia
On January 1st, 2005 a young wolf pup was born. A wolf that stood out from all of the others. Because he stood out he thought he should use that to his advantage and become a mascot. After hearing the news that the University of West Georgia would be becoming the West Georgia Wolves, this wolf would train for over a year so he could audition to be UWG’s Wolves mascot. After he got the job he was in need of a fun and friendly name that the students and community would grow to love. It was decided that he would be named Wolfie.
Wolfie was introduced as the university’s mascot in the Fall of 2006 and has since then grown and evolved into a beloved figure of the university and the Carrollton, GA community. From football to basketball games, from social media to in-person and from on-campus to off-campus, Wolfie has always done his best to stand out amongst the crowd and to bring smiles and laughter to all that he meets. He is the university’s number one fan and howls every day with UWG pride!
