2026 Minor League & Semi-Pro Mascot of the Year

Minor League & Semi-Pro Mascot of the Year | The 2026 Mascot Awards

The Minor League & Semi-Pro Mascot of the Year is the Mascot Hall of Fame’s top annual honor for mascots in minor league and semi-professional sports. It’s a Golden Reggy for the mascot that delivered outstanding entertainment while building meaningful connections with its fans, organization, and community.

In the semi-pro community, the mascot is often the biggest star in the building and the hardest worker. These characters host theme nights, race kids around the bases, visit schools, shake hands at the local car dealership, and keep the crowd laughing through a three-hour rain delay. This award celebrates them.

Did You Know?

Before minor league mascots, there was Max Patkin, the “Clown Prince of Baseball.” A former minor league pitcher, Patkin started his act during World War II. While pitching for a Navy team in Hawaii, he gave up a home run to Joe DiMaggio, then followed DiMaggio around the bases, mimicking his trot. The crowd loved it.

Patkin spent the next five decades on the road, making more than 4,000 appearances, mostly at minor league ballparks, in a baggy uniform with a question mark on the back. He even played himself in the 1988 film Bull Durham. Every minor league mascot who has ever coached first base for an inning is working from Max’s playbook.
